March 22, 2010 is the World Water Day. The World Water Day 2010, themed as “Communicating Water Quality Challenges and Opportunities of Water Quality”, reflects its importance alongside quantity of the resource in water management and aimed to communicate messages on water quality, ecosystems and human well- being. China has a large population and booming economy, clean water is an essential resource. In this year’s Chinese Water Week, the theme of implementing “strict water management system for securing sustainable development” is proposed, in order to raise the awareness of the importance of water. On this year's World Water Day and Chinese Water Week, activities will be organized for promoting effective water use and water environment protection. A number of projects have been launched during these events to improve polluted and shrinking water resources. (MWR) |
