Shenzhen City during the past 20 years has transformed from a small border town into a moderized city.

Shenzhen Water Group (SZWG), located in Shenzhen City, has developed to be a large-scale water service enterprise group with high quality service and scientific management, which has the capacity of installment, service, design, and construction.

SZWG owns more than 6 billion RMB asset till the end of 2002, together with over 1 billion RMB of yearly sale income. The capacity of daily water supply and sewage treatment are 1.67 million tons and 1.08 million tons, respectively. The annually quantities of water supply and sewage treatment are more than 450 million tons and 200 million tons, respectively.

There are 2400 Staffs in SZWG, including several post-doctors, 20 doctors, 127 masters, 83 senior engineers and 257 engineers. They have rich specialized technology, work experience, work spirit and the common faith.

SZWG was established on the basis of Shenzhen Water Supply Group Corporation (SZWSG) and Shenzhen Management Office in Dec. 28, 2001, which realized the strategic integration of water supply and drainage.

SZWSG is developed from the Shenzhen Water Works, which established in 1961, with capacity of daily water supply 2500 cubic meters. There are 5 water plants attached to SZWG, including Meilin, Donghu, Bijiashan, Dachong and Shatoujia Water Works. The area of water supply is up to 135 square kilometers, which is 95% of the area of Shenzhen Special Zone, and the serviced people are over 2 million.

The 6 pump stations, including Donghu Pump Station, Tiegang Pump Station, Dachong Transportation Pump Station, ect. pump the raw water from Shenzhen Reservoir, Xili Reservoir, Tiegang Reservoir, Meilin Reservoir and Zhengkeng Reservoir to the water plants.

Adopting the new advanced technologies and new craft at home and abroad, such as using activated carbon powder to deodorize and pre-ozone craft, strictly controlling each water producing process, SZWG always provides the high quality tap water to resident. At present, the qualities of water form water plants and in pipe network are all advantageous than the national standard, and partial items, such as turbidity, even achieve the European Union standard.

There are nearly 2,500 kilometers pipe over DN80 in the area of jurisdiction of SZWG， which make up a multi-water source pipe network.

There are 4 wastewater treatment plants attached, with capacity of daily sewage treated 1080000 cubic meters, and treatment rate of 62%, which is in the lead position of national cities. The 4 wastewater treatment plants are: Binhe, Luofang, Nanshan and Yantian Sewage Treatment Plant.

The major adopted activated sludge processes are AB process and MSBR. The automation is used in sewage treatment process commonly. The effluent achieves the national standard.

At present, we have completed the municipal administration draining water pipes and ditches altogether more than 1,800 kilometers, together with 29 sewage pump station.

On the basis of the macrozonality correspondence network, gaining real-time data of the water pressure and water qualities of water plants, pump station and pipe network by the ultra-short wave radio way correspondence, we implement long-distance monitor to water supply.

The Lab Center, which worth over 50 million RMB, is a international standard lab, owning advanced equipment of physical, chemical and microbiological analysis such as inductance coupling ion spectrometer, GC/MS, ect. 102 items of tap water and 76 items of sewage can be all examined. At the same time, we also have two modernized watercraft model base, which may supply the conditions for completing the water technology development and research.

In 2001, the first post-doctorate mobile station of water profession settled down in our company, which indicate that our company's scientific research level and the enterprise technology center construction stepped a new stage.

On 24th, Oct. 2002, SZWG won the 863 project about the topic of the safeguard technology on the security potable water, which is the resource and environment domain topic of the national high-tech research development plan during the tenth five-year plan period.

High quality services for customers can be provided by 7 branches. In order to optimized services with high efficiency, a service center for customer was established accordingly in 2002, Call Center voice service system was developed, and network service was provided on the waterchina website, by which customers can share the water services conveniently in all the time.

Shenzhen Special Zone Daily develops the water supply investigation, which indicates that the water supply service and the quality of potable water satisfaction for resident are 99.2% and 98.57%, respectively.

In 2000, SZWG is awarded to the national advanced unit of implementing user satisfactory, which is the only enterprise achieving this honor at home.
